Year 4 Writing performance by school locality
A roughly equal number of year four students who had their performance assessed in the PILNA 2021 writing assessment were enrolled in urban and non-urban schools: 48% in urban schools and 52% in non-urban schools.
Figure CWF4.7 shows the average performance of these students by school locality. On average, the year four students in urban schools achieved higher scores in writing than did students in non-urban schools. This is similar to the 2018 and 2015 PILNA cycles, when students in urban schools also achieved higher scores (refer to Figure CWF4.8).
