Year 6 Writing performance by school authority
Most year six students who had their performance assessed in the PILNA 2021 writing assessment were enrolled in government schools: 82% in government schools and 18% in non-government schools.
Figure CWF6.5 shows the average performance of these students by school authority. In 2021, students in non-government schools scored higher in writing than those in government schools. This is consistent with PILNA 2015 but not PILNA 2018. In 2015, a similar trend was seen but, in 2018, students in government schools achieved better results than those in non-government schools (refer to Figure CWF6.6). Further statistical testing needs to be performed to understand if these differences in scores are significant or the result of chance or outliers.
