Year 6 Reading performance by school authority
Most year six students who had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 reading assessment were enrolled in government schools: 82% in government schools and 18% in non-government schools.
Figure CRF6.5 shows the average performance of year six students by school authority. In 2021, students in non-government schools had higher average reading scores than those in government schools. This is consistent with PILNA 2015, but not PILNA 2018. In 2015, students in non-government schools also scored higher than students in government schools; there were no substantial differences between these groups in 2018 (refer to Figure CRF6.6).
