Year 6 Writing performance by school locality
A roughly equal number of year six students who had their performance assessed in the PILNA 2021 writing assessment were enrolled in urban and non-urban schools: 46% in urban schools and 54% in non-urban schools.
Figure CWF6.7 shows the average performance of these students by school locality. On average, year six students in urban schools achieved higher scores in writing than students in non-urban schools. This is consistent with the 2018 and 2015 PILNA cycles, when students in urban schools achieved higher scores (refer to Figure CWF6.8).
