Year 6 Writing performance by gender
A roughly equal number of year six girls and boys in Small Island States had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 writing assessment: 479 girls and 483 boys.
Figure CWF6.3 shows the average writing performance of year six students in Small Island States by gender in PILNA 2021. On average, the year six girls (520.27, SD = 38.99) scored higher in writing performance than did the year six boys (498.44, SD = 43.28). Year six girls also scored higher, on average, than year six boys in writing performance in 2015 and 2018.
