Year 4 Redaing performance by gender
Slightly more year four boys than girls in Small Island States had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 reading assessment: 500 girls and 563 boys.
Figure CNF4.3 shows the average reading performance of year four students in Small Island States by gender. On average, year four girls (483.44) scored higher than year four boys (434.58) in reading. This is similar to the 2015 and 2018 PILNA cycles, when year four girls scored higher than year four boys in reading performance.
