Year 4 Writing performance by gender
Slightly more year four boys than girls in Small Island States had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 writing assessment: 472 girls and 534 boys.
Figure CWF4.3 shows the average writing performance of year four students in Small Island States by gender. On average, year four girls (492.14, SD = 44.45) scored higher than year four boys (474.84, SD = 48.97). They also scored higher, on average, than year four boys in writing performance in 2015 and 2018.
