The average numeracy strand performance for year four students in Small Island States is shown in Figure CNF4.3 The average scores in each of the numeracy strands were similar. This shows that the 2021-year four cohort had consistent performance across all numeracy strands. This also means that the overall numeracy score for this year four cohort – the average of the strand scores – was not disproportionately affected by any single strand’s score.

The highest average strand performance in Small Island States was in the ‘Number’ strand; in the region it was in the ‘Measurement & Geometry’ strand.

Overall, Small Island States’ performance in the numeracy strand was similar to that of the region.
