Grade 3 Writing performance by gender
A roughly equal number of grade three girls and boys in Papua New Guinea had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 writing assessment: 52% girls and 48% boys.
Figure CWF3.4 shows the average writing performance of grade three students in Papua New Guinea by gender. On average, the score for grade three girls (507.49, SD = 36.51) was similar to that of boys (503.80, SD = 37.30). This contrasts with 2018, when grade three girls scored 11 points higher, on average, than grade three boys in writing.
