Grade 5 Numeracy performance by gender
A roughly equal number of grade five girls and boys in Papua New Guinea had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 numeracy assessment: 51% girls and 49% boys.
Figure CNF5.4 shows the average numeracy performance of grade five students in Papua New Guinea by gender. Grade five girls and grade five boys scored similarly in all numeracy areas, including the overall numeracy score. This was consistent with the scores from previous PILNA cycles. In 2015 and 2018, as seen in Figure CNF5.4.1 grade five girls, on average, scored similarly to grade five boys in all numeracy areas, including the overall numeracy score
