Grade 3 Numeracy performance by gender
A roughly equal number of grade three girls and boys in Papua New Guinea had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 numeracy assessment: 52% girls and 48% boys.
Figure CNF3.4 shows the average numeracy performance of grade three students in Papua New Guinea by gender. Grade three girls and grade three boys scored similarly in all numeracy areas, including the overall numeracy score. This is consistent with the scores in the 2018 PILNA cycle, when, as seen in Figure CNF3.4, the scores of grade three girls were, on average, similar to those of grade three boys in all numeracy areas, including the overall numeracy score.
