Roughly equal numbers of grade three students are enrolled in government (46%) and non-government (54%) schools.  Figure CRF3.5 shows the average performance of grade three students by school authority in 2021. Students in non-government schools and students in government schools showed comparable performance in the overall reading domain. The performance of students in both government and non-government schools increased between 2018 and 2021 as seen in Figure CRF3.6, but the increase of students in non-government schools was greater than that of their counterparts in government schools.
