Year 6 Reading performance by gender
A roughly equal number of year six girls and boys in Tuvalu had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 reading assessment: 48% girls and 52% boys.
Figure CRF6.3 shows the average reading performance of year six students in Tuvalu by gender. On average, year six girls (489.69, SD = 74.84) scored higher than year six boys (452.66, SD = 86.73) in PILNA 2021. This was similar to the 2015 and 2018 PILNA cycles, when, on average, year six girls scored higher than year six boys in reading performance (Figure CRF6.4).
