Year 6 Reading performance by school authority
Most year six students in Tuvalu who had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 reading assessment were enrolled in government schools: 85% in government schools and 15% in non-government schools.
Figure CRF6.5 shows the average performance of year six students by school authority. In PILNA 2021, students in non-government schools scored higher in reading than students in government schools. This is different from PILNA 2018, when students in government schools scored slightly higher in reading than those in non-government schools (Figure CRF6.6). Further statistical testing needs to be done to understand if these differences in scores are significant or the result of chance or outliers.
