Year 4 Reading performance by school authority
Most year four students in Tuvalu who had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 reading assessment were enrolled in government schools: 85% in government schools and 15% in non-government schools.
Figure CRF4.5 shows the average performance of year four students by school authority. Students in non-government schools scored higher in reading than students in government schools. This is different from PILNA 2018, when students in government schools scored higher in reading than those in non-government schools (Figure CRF4.6). Further statistical testing needs to be done to understand if these differences in scores are significant or the result of chance or outliers.
