Year 6 Writing performance by school authority
Most year six students who had their performance assessed in the PILNA 2021 writing assessment were enrolled in government schools: 77% in government schools and 23% in non-government schools.
Figure CWF6.5 shows the average performance of these students by school authority. Students in non-government schools scored higher in writing than those in government schools. This is consistent with previous PILNA cycles. In 2018 and 2015, students in non-government schools achieved substantially better results than those in government schools. Further statistical testing needs to be done to understand if these differences in scores are significant or the result of chance or outliers.
