Year 6 Reading performance by gender
A roughly equal number of year six girls and boys in Solomon Islands had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 reading assessment: 52% were girls and 48% were boys.
Figure CRF6.3 shows the average reading performance of year six students in Solomon Islands by gender. On average, year six girls (517.23) scored slightly higher than year six boys (509.71) in PILNA 2021. This was similar to the scores in the 2015 and 2018 PILNA cycles, when, on average, year six girls scored slightly higher than year six boys in reading performance (Figure CRF6.4).
