Year 4 Numeracy performance by school authority
Most year four students who participated in the PILNA 2021 numeracy assessment were enrolled in government schools: 76% in government schools and 24% in non-government schools.
Figure CNF4.5 shows the average performance of year four students by school authority. Students in non-government schools scored about the same as students in government schools in overall numeracy and most numeracy strands. There was a small difference in the ‘Data’ strand; students from non-government schools scored slightly higher in this strand. Overall, this is consistent with the trend in previous PILNA cycles (Figures CNF4.5.1-4.5.5). In both 2015 and 2018, students enrolled in non-government schools scored about the same in all numeracy areas compared with those in government schools.
