Year 4 Reading performance by gender
A roughly equal number of year four girls and boys in Solomon Islands had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 reading assessment: 48% girls and 52% boys.
Figure CRF4.3 shows the average reading performance of year four students in Solomon Islands by gender. On average, year four girls (480.43, SD = 53.73) scored higher than year four boys (471.13, SD = 58.09) in reading. This is similar to the 2015 and 2018 PILNA cycles, when year four girls also scored higher than year four boys in reading performance (Figure CRF4.4).
