Year 6 Writing performance by gender

A roughly equal number of year six girls and boys in Solomon Islands had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 writing assessment: 52% girls and 48% boys.

Figure CWF6.3 shows the average writing performance of year six students in Solomon Islands by gender in PILNA 2021. On average, year six girls (504.61, SD = 40.93) scored slightly higher in writing performance than did year six boys (496.12, SD = 43.39). Year six girls also scored higher than year six boys in 2015 and 2018, when the score differences were bigger than in 2021.
