A roughly equal number of year four girls and boys in Solomon Islands had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 writing assessment: 48% girls and 52% boys.

Figure CWF4.4 shows the average writing performance of year four students in Solomon Islands by gender. On average, year four girls (479.71, SD = 39.76) scored about the same on average as year four boys (472.72, SD = 42.14). Year four girls did, however, score higher than year four boys in writing in both 2015 and 2018.
