Year 6 Numeracy performance by school authority

Most year six students who participated in the PILNA 2021 numeracy assessment were enrolled in government schools: 76% in government schools and 24% in non-government schools.

Figure CNF6.5 shows the average performance of year six students by school authority. Students in non-government schools scored about the same as students in government schools in overall numeracy and most numeracy strands. Overall, this is consistent with the trend in previous PILNA cycles. In both 2015 and 2018, students enrolled in non-government schools scored about the same in all numeracy areas compared with those in government schools (Figures 6.5.1-6.5.5).
