A roughly equal number of year six girls and boys in Tuvalu had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 writing assessment: 48% girls and 52% boys.

Figure CWF6.3 shows the average writing performance of year six students in Tuvalu by gender in PILNA 2021. On average, the year six girls (510.47) scored higher in writing than did the year six boys (491.05). Year six girls also scored higher, on average, than year six boys in writing in 2015 and 2018 (Figure CWF6.4).
