Year 4 Numeracy performance by school authority

Most year four students in Tuvalu who had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 numeracy assessment were enrolled in government schools: 85% in government schools and 15% non-government schools.

Figure CNF4.5 shows the average performance of year four students by school authority. Students in government schools scored higher than students in non-government schools in the overall numeracy domain and all numeracy strands. This is similar to PILNA 2018 (Figure CNF4.5.1). Further statistical testing needs to be performed to understand if the differences in scores are significant or the result of chance or outliers.
