Grade 7 Writing performance by school locality
Most grade seven students who participated in the PILNA 2021 writing assessment in Palau were enrolled in urban schools; 79% of students were enrolled in urban schools and 21% in non-urban schools.
Figure CWF7.7 shows the average writing performance of grade seven students by school locality, urban and non-urban, over time. In 2021, students enrolled in urban schools (535) scored about the same as students in non-urban schools (534). As seen in Figure CWF7.8, this was similar to the scores in PILNA 2015, when students from urban and non-urban schools scored about the same. In PILNA 2018, however, students in urban schools scored higher than students in non-urban schools. There is no clear trend over time for performance differences between urban and non-urban students in writing performance at grade seven.
