Grade 5 Numeracy performance by school authority
Most grade five students that participated in PILNA 2021 in Palau were enrolled in government schools; 80% of were in government schools and 20% were in non-government schools
Figure CNF5.5.1 shows the average performance of grade five students by school authority over time. In PILNA 2015 and PILNA 2018, the average performance of students in government and non-government schools was similar. The reason why students from non-government schools scored higher in 2021 is unknown.
Figure CNF5.5 shows the average performance of grade five students by school authority: government and non-government. Students from non-government schools scored higher than students in government schools in all numeracy strands and overall numeracy performance. The largest difference was seen in the operations strand (government, 570; non-government, 617).
