Grade 5 Reading performance by gender
A roughly equal number of grade five girls and boys in Palau had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 reading assessment: 47% girls and 53% boys.
Figure CRF5.3 shows the average reading performance of grade five students in Palau by gender. On average, grade five girls (582.52, SD = 63.83) scored higher than grade five boys (564.50, SD = 65.18) in reading. This is consistent with the trends shown in the 2015 and 2018 PILNA cycles, where grade five girls also scored higher than grade five boys in reading performance.
