Grade 5 Writing performance by school authority
Eight out of 10 grade five students in Marshall Islands are enrolled in government schools
Figure CWF5.5 shows the average performance of grade five students by school authority. Students in non-government schools scored higher, on average, in the overall writing domain than those enrolled in government schools. This is a reversal of previous PILNA cycles, where the average score of students in government schools was higher than those in non-government schools. In 2021, both groups’ average reading scores were higher than in 2018, but the increase was much higher for non-government school students than for those in government schools, Figure CWF5.6.
