Grade 7 Numeracy performance by gender
A roughly equal number of grade seven girls and boys in Marshall Islands had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 numeracy assessment: 47% girls and 53% boys.
Figure CNF7.4 shows the average numeracy performance of grade seven students in Marshall Islands by gender. Grade seven girls scored higher on average than grade seven boys in all numeracy areas, including the overall numeracy score. This was consistent with the scores in 2015 and 2018, when grade seven girls, on average, scored higher than grade seven boys in all numeracy areas, including the overall numeracy score (see Figure CNF7.4.1). Further statistical testing needs to be done to understand if these differences in scores are significant or the result of chance or outliers.
