Figure CWF7.7 shows the average performance of grade seven students in writing by school locality. Grade seven students in non-urban schools achieved a higher average score in the overall writing domain than those in urban schools. Both groups saw a consistent increase in average performance when compared to previous PILNA cycles, but it is particularly worth noting the increase in the average performance of non-urban school students in writing: an increase of 42 points, Figure CWF7.8.
