Figure CRF5.5 shows the average performance of grade five students by school authority.  Students in non-government schools scored higher, on average, in the overall reading domain and the reading strands than those enrolled in government schools. In 2021, non-government students’ scores saw a slight increase from the PILNA 2018, whereas government students’ scores were 33 points lower than in the 2018 cycle, Figure CRF5.6.
