Figure CNF5.5. shows the average performance of grade five students by school authority.  Students in non-government schools in Marshall Islands showed higher average performance in the overall numeracy domain and the numeracy strands than those enrolled in government schools. The largest difference in performance was observed in the ‘Data’ strand, with a 71-point difference on average between grade five students in non-government schools and those in government schools.  While the difference in numeracy scores at grade five is consistent with the previous two PILNA cycles, Figure CNF5.5.1, 2021’s results show even greater disparity.  More analysis will help to understand whether these differences in scores are statistically significant.
