Grade 7 Reading performance by gender
A roughly equal number of grade seven girls and boys in Federated States of Micronesia had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 reading assessment: 53% grade seven girls and 47% grade seven boys.
Figure CRF7.3 shows the average reading performance of grade seven students in Federated States of Micronesia by gender. On average, grade seven girls (488.56, SD = 97.71) scored slightly higher than grade seven boys (474.18, SD = 93.29) in PILNA 2021. This was consistent with the trends from the 2015 and 2018 PILNA cycles, when, on average, grade seven girls scored higher than grade seven boys in reading performance, as shown in Figure CRF7.4.
