Grade 5 Reading performance by gender
A roughly equal number of grade five girls and boys in Federated States of Micronesia had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 reading assessment: 48% grade five girls and 52% grade five boys.
Figure CRF5.3 shows the average reading performance of grade five students in Federated States of Micronesia by gender. On average, grade five girls (430.90, SD = 98.32) scored higher than grade five boys (409.53, SD = 99.83). This is consistent with the trends shown in the 2015 and 2018 PILNA cycles, when grade five girls scored higher than grade five boys in reading performance as shown in Figure CRF5.4.
