Grade 7 Numeracy mean performance by school authority

Mean performance of Grade 7 students in domain and strands by school authority, FSM, PILNA 2021

More than eight out of 10 grade seven students are enrolled in government schools.  Figure CNF7.5 shows the average performance of these students by school authority. Students in non-government schools scored higher in the overall numeracy domain and the numeracy strands than those in government schools.  Figure CNF7.5.1 compares the average numeracy scores of grade seven students in non-government and government schools from 2015 to 2021. It shows that, while students in non-government schools have had fairly consistent performance, there is a different story for students in government schools. Grade seven students in government schools achieved lower scores on average for numeracy in 2015, but in 2018, the scores increased to be comparable to those in non-government schools, before returning to a lower average score in 2021.
