Year 6 Reading performance by gender
A slightly unequal number of year six girls and boys in Niue had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 reading assessment: 58% girls and 42% boys.
Figure CRF6.3 shows the average reading performance of year six students in Niue by gender. On average, year six girls (604.99, SD = 59.91) scored higher than year six boys (546.55, SD = 56.82) in PILNA 2021. This was consistent with the scores for the 2015 and 2018 PILNA cycles, when, on average, year six girls scored higher than year six boys in reading performance (Figure CRF6.4).
