Figure CRF6.2 shows the average reading scores for this group and for year six students in Niue in previous PILNA cycles. The average reading score for year six students in Niue in 2021 (579) was higher than the 2015 (496) and 2018 (514) scores. The standard deviation for the average year six reading scores in 2021 (SD = 64.73) was slightly lower than in 2018 (SD = 72.65) and higher than in 2015 (SD = 54.64). This shows that the spread of year six reading scores in PILNA 2021 was slightly narrower than in PILNA 2018 but slightly wider than in PILNA 2015.

Standard deviation shows how close data points are to the average. A lower standard deviation means that data points are, overall, closer to the average; a higher standard deviation means that data points are, overall, further away from the average.
