Year 6 Writing performance by gender
A roughly equal number of year six girls and boys in Cook Islands had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 writing assessment with the distribution being 45% girls and 55% boys.
Figure CWF6.3 shows the average writing performance of year six students in Cook Islands by gender in PILNA 2021. On average, the year six girls scored higher in writing performance (516.08, SD = 35.26) than did the year six boys (494.05, SD = 39.89). Year six girls also scored higher, on average, than year six boys in writing performance in 2015 and 2018 shown in Figure CWF6.4.
