More than 7 out of 10 year four students are enrolled in Cook Island government schools. Figure CWF4.5 shows the average performance of these students by school authority.  Students in government schools showed a slightly better performance in writing than those in non-government schools. This is the opposite of what was observed in previous PILNA cycles. In 2018 and 2015, students in non-government schools achieved better results than those in government schools as shown in Figure CWF4.6.  Further statistical testing needs to be performed to understand if these differences in scores are significant or the result of chance or outliers.
