Nearly 80% of year four students are enrolled in schools in urban areas.  Figure CWF4.7 shows the average performance of these students by school locality.  On average, the year four students in urban schools achieved slightly higher scores in writing than did the students in non-urban schools.  This is consistent with the 2018 PILNA cycle, but differs from the 2015 PILNA cycle, when non-urban schools achieved slightly higher scores.  Overall, both urban and non-urban schools have seen continued improvement of writing scores since 2015 as shown in Figure CWF4.8.
