More than 7 out of 10 year six students are enrolled in government schools. Figure CNF6.6 shows the average performance of year six students by school authority. Students in government and non-government schools showed similar performance across all four strands and in the overall numeracy domain. This is different from PILNA 2015 and 2018 (Figure CNF6.6.1) when students enrolled in non-government schools scored higher in the numeracy domain than those in non-government schools. Further statistical testing needs to be performed to understand if these differences in scores are significant or the result of chance or outliers.
