Year 4 Numeracy mean performance by school authority

Mean performance of Year 4 students in domain and strands by school authority, Cook Is, PILNA 2021

More than 7 out of 10 year four students are enrolled in government schools. Figure CNF4.6 shows the average performance of year four students by school authority. Students in non-government schools scored higher than students in government schools in overall numeracy and all numeracy strands. This is consistent with the trend in previous PILNA cycles. In both 2015 and 2018, students enrolled in non-government schools scored higher in the numeracy domain than those in government schools as seen in Figure CNF4.6.1. Further statistical testing needs to be performed to understand if these differences in scores are significant or the result of chance or outliers.
