Year 4 Reading performance by gender
A roughly equal number of year four girls and boys in Tokelau had their performance analysed in the PILNA 2021 reading assessment: 15 girls and 18 boys.
Figure CRF4.3 shows the average reading performance of year four students in Tokelau by gender. On average, year four girls (459.79) scored substantially higher than year four boys (389.90) in reading. This is consistent with the scores in the 2015 and 2018 PILNA cycles, when year four girls scored higher than year four boys in reading performance, as can be seen in Figure CRF4.4.
